Intellectual property mediation is an alternative to the court system for those in need of dispute resolution over matters of intellectual property, including matters of copyright, trademark, authors' rights, moral rights, patents, utility models, geographical indications, and trade secrets. The parties involved both present their cases to an agreed upon and duly authorized mediation attorney and agree to abide by the decision of that mediation attorney.
